Old Road
Old Road, the sit of the first British
settlement in the Caribbean,
comprises of Romney's Manor, the Carib drawings and the Wingfield Manor
Estate yard. This is one of the most interesting spots on the island for
the simple fact that it has the only road going directly across the
island via the rain forest. Old Road is now the heart of the island's
fishing community and still keeps that old rural style way of life.
Romney
Manor
No
visit to Old Road or St. Kitts even would ever be complete without a
visit to Romney Manor, the home of Caribelle Batik. This 350 year old
estate, formally owned by a British Earl, is where local artists
transform Sea Island Cotton into magnificent works of art. As you walk
through its gardens filled with exotic plants and flowers, you will find
a 350 year old African Saman tree covering half an acre.
Black
Rocks
This is the site of the violent volcanic
past that St. Kitts has suffered. These beautiful Black coloured rock
formations, are the reminiscence of hot molten lava spilling into the
Atlantic Ocean on St. Kitts' North side.
