Climate:
The average temperature is about 79F°.
The annual rainfall averages 55 inches. The humidity is relatively low
and constant northeast trade winds keep the islands cool.
Hotels:
There are over 20 hotels on the two
islands, the majority being on St. Kitts; most are small and
owner-managed, offering a high standard of facilities and comfort. Many
are converted from the great houses and sugar mills on the old estates.
Further development on St. Kitts will add some 2000 more beds. A full

Ratings:
Though not a rating structure, many
hotels in St. Kitts & Nevis offer accommodation according to one of
a number of plans: FAP is Full American Plan: room with all meals
(including afternoon tea, supper, etc.); AP is American Plan: room with
three meals; MAP is Modified American Plan: breakfast and dinner
included with the price of the room plus, in some places, British-style
afternoon tea; CP is Continental Plan: room and breakfast only; EP is
European Plan: room only.

Tipping/Gratuities:
Same as in the US gratuities range from
10% to 15%, depending on the service. Some restaurants and hotels will
automatically add a 10% gratuity to your bill. If you are in doubt, just
ask. Usually, porters and bellhops receive 50 cents per bag and taxi
drivers receive 10-15% of the fare.

Calling the U.S. is easy from St. Kitts
& Nevis. Most hotels offer USA Direct calling service, or can
connect you with a U.S. operator.
Taxes:
St. Kitts & Nevis have a US$10.00 or
a EC$27.00 airport departure tax, a room tax of 7% and service charge of
10%. There is NO personal income tax in St. Kitts & Nevis.
Television:
Most hotels have 22 cable channels,
including CNN, ESPN, the Disney Channel, HBO, Showtime, and Cinemax
premium movie channels as well as local stations.
Electricity:
230 volts, 60 cycles. Most hotels have
110 volts and converters are also available.
